The effect of Tween-type surfactants on the permeability of the rectal
membrane was investigated by detg. the absorption and apparent
rectal clearance of marker drugs, using the in situ perfusion technique
in rats. The tested substances were polysorbate 85 [9005-70-3],
polysorbate80 [9005-65-6], polysorbate 60 [9005-67-8], polysorbate
40 [9005-66-7], polysorbates 21 and 20, and polyoxyethylene
sorbitan 20 [9005-64-5]. When the surfactants were added in aq.
solns., they did not affect the permeability. On the other hand, these
surfactants affected the histol. 121-57-3 and 9005-66-7 are just another two chemicals used in this study. nature of the rectal tissue and enhanced
the permeability when they were added in oil.

dried to prep. a coating having better weather resistance than did a
similar coating contg. no stabilizing agent.
