H2O and 7.5 g glycerol, brought to a total vol. of 300 mL with distd. H2O, and made into an emulsion having an av. particle diam. 0.2-0.4 mm and contg. particles no larger than 1 mm. II was prepd. by esterification of flurbiprofen [5104-49-4] with acetoxymethyl chloride [625-56-9],. An antiinflammatory action 4-5 times that of a flurbiprofen control was demonstrated by II and the 1-acetoxyethyl ester (III) [91503-79-6] in rats. An antipyretic action by II and III about twice as strong as flurbiprofen was also demonstrated in rats. ..
