The suspensions are chem. stable even after prolonged storage at 40°, phys. stable when stored at £30°, stable during transport, and readily sprayable with conventional equipment.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) The main reactions leading to formation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (I) [25038-59-9] and the side reactions resulting in degrdn. of I were studied by simulating the continuous polycondensation in a batch reactor and in a continuous pilot plant. Bis(b-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate [959-26-2] was used as the starting material, and Sb2O3 and OP(OPh)3 were used as the catalyst and the stabilizer, resp. The no.-av. degrees of polymn. of the obtained I were in good agreement with the calcd. values. At viscosities 2000-3000 P the diffusion rate in the pilot plant reactor was ~20 times faster than in the batch reactor.
