5-Cyano-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine Specification
5H-Dibenz[b,f]azepine-5-carbonitrile, with its' cas number 42787-75-7, is also called 5-Cyano-5H-dibenz[b,f]azepine. In addtion,5H-Dibenz[b,f]azepine-5-carbonitrile is named benzo[b][1]benzazepine-11-carbonitrile by IUPAC.
5-Cyano 5H-dibenz[f,b]azepine (IV) can be used in the synthesis of Oxcarbazepine. With the nitration of 5-cyano 5H-dibenz[f,b]azepine (IV) with NaNO2 in acetic anhydride -acetic acid gives 5-cyano 10-nitro-5H-dibenz[b, f]azepine (V), which is then treated with BrF3 and powdered Fe in hot acetic acid. With this condition, Oxcarbazepine can be produced.
