The IUPAC name of Acid Red 88 is sodium 4-[2-(2-oxonaphthalen-1-ylidene)hydrazinyl]naphthalene-1-sulfonate. With the CAS registry number 1658-56-6 and EINECS 216-760-3, it is also named as 1-Naphthalenesulfonic acid, 4-((2-hydroxy-1-naphthalenyl)azo)-, monosodium salt. Preparation and Uses of Acid Red 88: Coupling 2 - alpha-naphthol and the diazotization of 1-Amino-4-naphthalene sulfonate gives the product.
