Alclofenac epoxide was shown to inhibit the activity of yeast alcohol dehydrogenase and form a conjugate with cysteine. It showed mutagenic effects on strains of Salmonella typhimurium sensitive to alkylating agents, but had no effect on strains sensitive to intercalating agents.
