Perenosins: A new class of anion transporter with anti-cancer activity
A new class of anion transporter named 'perenosins' consisting of a pyrrole linked through an imine to either an indole, benzimidazole or indazole is reported. The indole containing members of the perenosin family function as effective transmembrane Cl-/NO3- antiporters and HCl cotransporters in a manner similar to the prodigiosenes. The compounds reduce the viability of MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7.

Synthesis of polyfunctional indoles and related heterocycles mediated by cesium and potassium bases
A general preparation of 2-substituted indoles starting from functionalized 2-alkynylanilines has been developed. This base mediated reaction has also been used to synthesize the heterocyclic core of the marine alkaloid hinckdentine A. Furthermore the reaction was successfully adapted to the solid phase. Benzofurans and isoindolones could also be prepared with this method.

Mild Synthesis of Polyfunctional Benzimidazoles and Indoles by the Reduction of Functionalized Nitroarenes with Phenylmagnesium Chloride
Phenylmagnesium chloride has been used for the conversion of selected nitroarenes into nitrenes. Their insertion into a neighboring sp2 C-H bond yielded functionalized heterocycles. A novel and mild synthesis of polyfunctional benzimidazoles and indoles is described.
