p53 activator

A p53 activator is a substance or compound that stimulates the activity or expression of the p53 protein, a crucial tumor suppressor involved in regulating cell division and preventing the growth of tumors. p53 plays a pivotal role in sensing DNA damage, cellular stress, and oncogene activation. Upon activation, p53 initiates a cascade of cellular responses, including cell cycle arrest, DNA repair, senescence, or programmed cell death (apoptosis), depending on the extent of damage and cellular context.
