Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by chloro-chloromethyl-dimethyl-silane and phenylmagnesium bromide. This reaction will need reagent diethyl ether.

Uses of Benzene,[(chloromethyl)dimethylsilyl]-: it can be used to produce 1-[(dimethyl-phenyl-silanyl)-methyl]-azepan-2-one at temperature of 100 °C. It will need reagent K2CO3 with reaction time of 5 hours. The yield is about 100%.
