Pale yellow volatile oil, eugenol and furfural showed aroma. It was a dark purple-brown after the case of iron. A bactericidal effect. It is soluble in benzyl benzoate, diethyl phthalate and propylene glycol, in the majority of non-volatile oil was slightly milky white, a few do not dissolve in mineral oil and glycerin.

Cloveleaf oil (CAS NO.8015-97-2) is a Myrtaceae plant clove (Syzigium aromaticum, also known as Eugenia caryophyllata) derived from the leaves by steam distillation. Yield about 2% to 3%.
