Preparation of DL-Proline: it can be prepared by 1-trichloroacetyl-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester. This reaction will need reagent 20percent aq. KOH and solvent methanol. The yield is about 80% with ambient temperature.

Uses of DL-Proline: it can be used in biochemical and nutrition research, microbial test and the preparation of culture medium. This reaction will need reagent [NO+*(18-crown-6)*H(NO3)2-] and solvent CH2Cl2. The reaction time is 5 minutes at reaction temperature of 20 °C. The yield is about 100%.
