Dihydrostreptomycin Safety Profile

Poison by intravenous and intramuscular routes. Moderately toxic by subcutaneous and intraperitoneal routes. Human teratogenic effects by unspecified route: developmental abnormalities of the eye and ear. An experimental teratogen. Other experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. A derivative of streptomycin; has anesthetic properties. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx.
Attention:
1. Storage: Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.
2. Handling: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation.
