 C.I. Direct Blue 86 (CAS NO.1330-38-7) can be produced as following: Take the copper phthalocyanine blue (CuPC) as raw materials,chlorine sulfonation with chlorosulfonic acid,then diluted with ice water, precipitation of copper phthalocyanine chloride , filtration and neutralization with ammonia, heating for deamination. Then by salting out, filtering and drying,it will obtain C.I. Direct Blue 86 .

Moderately toxic by intraperitoneal route. Low toxicity by ingestion. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating vapors.
