2,4-Bis(dialkylamino)pyrylium salts 3 are readily available by treatment of 2-acyl-1-chloro-enamines 2 with HCl at elevated temperature.The synthesis involves protolytic displacement of one acyl group in the primaryly formed cyclisation product.An independent and stepwise access, starting from 2, is described.
