CH-Acidic O-alkyl dithiocarbonates 1 react with carbon disulfide in a one-pot synthesis under basic conditions (NaH in DMF or phase transfer conditions) and S-alkylation to novel 1,3-dithiole-2-thiones 3-6.The structure of these compounds and supporting n.m.r., ir and mass spectra are discussed. - Keywords: 1,3-Dithiole-2-thiones; Dithiocarboxylation; O-Alkyl dithiocarbonates; Cyclocondensation; Phase transfer dithiocarboxylation; Carbon disulfide.
