PQ-8 (5), a C14-polyacetylene compound isolated from Panax quinquefolium, was synthesized starting from L-(+)-diethyl tartrate. The absolute stereostructure of PQ-8 was confirmed as (6R,7S)-6,7-epoxytetradeca-l,3-diyne.
