Oligonucleotides containing 5-hydroxy-2'-deoxycytidine (2) have been synthesized using the phosphoramidite chemistry. The presence and the integrity of the modified nucleoside in the synthetic oligomers were confirmed by electrospray mass spectrometry and chromatographic analysis of enzymatic digestion coupled with W detection.
