The complex undergoes reactions with cycloheptatriene and cyclo-octatriene such that one or both silicon atoms of chelate ligand migrate to the co-ordinated polyolefin.From C7H8 the cyclopentadienyl complex is produced and converted into the cyclohepta-1,3-diene complex upon treatment with CO.Similar behaviour is observed using 7-C6F5C7H7.Cyclo-octatriene yields fully migrated directly, as well as the diruthenium complex containing an unusual η⁷-hydrocarbon ligand bridging the two metal atoms.Cyclopentadiene reacts with to give a complex <(OC)2(η-C5H5)RuSiMe2CH2CH2Me2SiRu(η-C5H5)(CO)2> in which the disilicon chelate links two ruthenium atoms.
