A series of monomeric carbiminoboranes is obtained by treatment of isonitriles with organolithium compounds and subsequent treatment with aminohaloboranes. .By an analogous reaction carbiminosilanes can be prepared, having a hydrogen atom in α-position to the imine group.Carbiminosilanes react with aminohaloboranes to give trimethylsilylenaminoboranes and in the case of 1-methyl-5-phenyl-2-trimethylsilyl-2-imidazoline cleavage of the Si-C bond occurs.The compounds are characterized analytically and spectroscopic ally (IR; NMR; 1H, 11B, 29Si; MS).
