The structure of a new diterpene, (-)-2(S),8(R)-dihydroxyverrucosane, isolated from the liverwort Gyrothyra underwoodiana (Gyrothyraceae) has been established by 1H-1H 2D NMR spectroscopy and was confirmed by X-ray diffraction.The absolute configuration was determined by using the dibenzoate chirality method⁷ for the bis(p-bromobenzoate) derivative.
