The cyclization of α-thiosubstituted 1,4-diketones affords a convenient synthesis of a variety of 3-thiosubstituted furans with quantitative yields, and very mild experimental conditions (CH2Cl2, 15 deg C, Cat. : ISiMe3 or BrSiMe3 or ClSiMe3-ZnBr2).These methods were also applied to simple 1,4-diketones.
