The dimeric complex (RhII(TMTAA))2 (1) (TMTAA = dibenzotetramethylaza[14]annulene dianion) reacts with mixtures of hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases to produce a metallo hydride, RhIII(TMTAA)(H) (2), and an η1-metallo formyl complex, RhIII(TMTAA)(CHO). Compounds 1 and 2 react with ethene to produce bridging and terminal alkyl complexes, respectively.
