to the employment of the HEW reaction, the yield of ancillary
ligands was very high, and the purification of these two dyes was
very easy. The functionalization of position 3,4 in the thiophene
ancillary ligands increases the molar extinction coefficient
considerably. Furthermore, the electron life time adsorbed on
TiO2 and the adsorption amount of these two dyes are larger
than those of N3. With increases of both Voc and Jsc, the h of the
DSC prepared using SY-04 was 7.70%, which is 27% higher than
that (6.05%) prepared with N3 under the same cell fabrication
conditions. The increased h might be attributed to the increase in
electron life time (4.95 ms) measured by electrochemical imped-
ance as well as the increased recombination half-life (74.4 ms)
measured by TAS for SY-04 compared with those (2.76 ms and
49.7 ms) of N3.
