In conclusion, we have developed heterodimetallic 1 and its
homodimetallic analogues 2 and 38d using the bis(pyrazol-1-yl)-
methane based bis-heteroscorpionate ligand (pz4lut). The
complexes were characterised using various analytical tech-
niques. The structure of 1 was authenticated by single crystal
X-ray diffraction which shows the expected pianostool geome-
try for Ru and distorted square planar geometry for the Pd
centre. All the complexes were tested for tandem Suzuki coup-

shows
superior activity to the equimolar mixture of complexes 2 + 3
and 4 + 5 at 30 °C. The better activity of 1 than the mixture of
2 and 3 corroborates the significance of a single well-defined
heterodimetallic catalytic system which may show cooperativity
at least to some extent. Though the overall conversion does not
differ significantly between 1 and the mixture 2 and 3 (Table 1,
entries 9 and 10), the one-pot multi-step synthesis by 1 is
important in terms of atom economy, saving chemicals, and
reduction of waste, energy and time. Thus, we believe that the
new example of heterodimetallic 1 with the bis-heteroscorpio-
nate ligand may open new avenues for the development of
one-pot multi-step tandem reactions and/or catalysts.
