An efficient one-pot synthesis of useful allylic hydroxymethyl methylenecycloalkane building blocks was achieved by a controlled H-ene/protodesilylation sequence using two different Lewis acids (Me₂AlCl/SnCl₄) and starting from readily available isocyclic allylsilanes.
