The standard molar enthalpies of formation of PdAl, PtAl, ScAl1.78, YAl2 and LaAl2 have been determined using a high-temperature calorimeter at 1473 ± 2 K: ΔH°f(PdAl) = -182.5 ± 9.3 kJ mol-1, ΔH°f(PtAl) = -195.1 ± 10.1 kJ mol-1, ΔH°f(ScAl1.78) = -132.6 ± 2.6 kJ mol-1, ΔH°f(YAl2) = -151.2 ± 3.8 kJ mol-1 and ΔH°f(LaAl2) = -149.6 ± 6.2 kJ mol-1. Comparisons are made with some available data and with predicted values.
