A novel strategy derived from sulfur-based cyclocoupling in conjunction with a modified Ramberg-Baecklund reaction together with the utilization of (-)-menthol as the chiral auxiliary is presented for the synthesis of (+)- and (-)-<12><12>paracyclophanes.
