The production method of this chemical is below: Firstly, extract the rare earth chloride solvent with the P2O4-kerosene-HC1-R and then divide into groups with samariumneodymiummethod; Next further extract the rare earth with raffinate and then add samarium and heavy rare earth into the organic phase to have the backextraction with 2.0 mol/L HCl; Then get the middle-weight rare earths samarium and gadolinium (Gd) concentrate and then reduce with zinc powder; Following extract europium with caustic method and have the mishmetal group method, and then dissolve the mishmetal and lastly go through a listing process of sediment with oxalic acid, seperation, drying, burning to get this product. The chemical equation is below: Gd2(C2O4)3→Gd2O3+3CO2+3CO.

As to its usage, it is widely applied in many ways. It could be used as the additive element of yttrium-aluminum-garnet, flourescent material in pharmaceutic apparatus, additive agent of optics prism, and the control material of preparation in metal gadolinium (Gd), magnetic bubble material and atomic-energy industry reactor.
