Pyrethrum Safety Profile

Moderately toxic to humans by ingestion. Poison experimentally by ingestion, intraperitoneal, and intravenous routes. Experimental reproductive effects. An allergen. They are rapidly detoxified in the gastrointestinal tract, but can cause gastrointestinal, respiratory, and central nervous system effects. A dose of 15 g has caused the death of a child. Chronic exposures can cause liver damage. Combustible when exposed to heat or flame. When heated to decomposition they emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. An insecticide.
