Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by isobutyraldehyde and chloro-trimethyl-silane. This reaction will need reagent Et₃N and solvent dimethylformamide. The reaction time is 4 hours. The yield is about 87%.

Uses of Silane,trimethyl[(2-methyl-1-propen-1-yl)oxy]-: it can be used to produce 1-(2,2-dimethyl-3-oxopropyl)-2-pyrrolidinone at temperature of 110 - 120 °C. The yield is about 68%.
