Intramolecular Hydrogen Bonds

Intramolecular hydrogen bonds can form when hydrogen atoms are attracted to electronegative atoms within the same molecule. In the case of p-substituted phenol-based benzoxazines, the oxygen atom in the oxazine ring is electronegative and can form hydrogen bonds with hydrogen atoms in the substituent group or with other groups within the molecule.
