Chemical Baike

Site Selectivity

The site selectivity of the reaction refers to which carbon atom of the dipolarophile (methoxyallene) reacts with the 1,3-dipole (nitrone). Lewis acids can coordinate with the dipolarophile, directing the reaction to occur at a specific carbon atom. This coordination typically occurs at the most electron-rich site on the dipolarophile.
