Synthesis of the Complex

In a typical synthesis, a solution of nickel(II) perchlorate (Ni(ClO4)2) in a suitable solvent (e.g., dichloromethane) is prepared. The phosphine ligand (either 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino-kP,P')propane or 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino-kP,P')butane) is added to the solution. Then, the 4-morpholinecarbodithioato-S,S′ ligand is added in an appropriate molar ratio. The reaction mixture is stirred and allowed to react for some time at a specific temperature. The reaction time and temperature can vary depending on the specific synthetic conditions. The reaction mixture is usually filtered to remove any insoluble byproducts. The resulting complex is isolated from the solution by precipitation, evaporation, or chromatography techniques.
