Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by chloro-trimethyl-silane, tribromomethane from the temperature of -78 °C to room temperature. This reaction will need reagent LiBu and solvent hexane, tetrahydrofuran. The yield is about 65%.

Uses of Tris(trimethylsilyl)methane: it can be used to produce trisylbis(p-methoxyphenyl)fluorosilane by heating. It will need reagent MeLi and solvent tetrahydrofuran with the reaction time of 3.5 hours. The yield is about 62%.
