Uses
Cobalt(II) fluoride (CAS NO.10026-17-2) is available in most volumes in an ultra high purity composition. It can be used as a catalyst to alloy metals and also used for optical deposition, of which it tremendously improves optical quality. High purity compositions can improve optical qualities and its usefulness as a standard. The compound may be used in dental care, since fluoride is also used in dental care.
Production
The anhydrous fluoride can be extracted from this by dehydration.Its tetrahydrate is formed by dissolving cobalt(II) in hydrofluoric acid. Other synthesis can occur at higher temperatures. Cobalt(II) fluoride (CAS NO.10026-17-2) can be prepared from Cobalt(II) oxide or anhydrous Cobalt(II) chloride in a stream of hydrogen fluoride:
CoCl2 + 2HF → CoF2 + 2HCl
CoO + 2HF → CoF2 + 2H2O
To analysis this compound, Cobalt (II) fluoride can be dissolved in nitric acid and then the solution is diluted with water until appropriate concentration for AA or ICP spectrophotometry for the cobalt.

Cobalt(II) fluoride ,its cas register number is 10026-17-2. It also can be called Cobalt difluoride and Cobaltous fluoride .It is a pink crystalline solid compound. It has been shown that at 500 o C fluorine will combine with cobalt producing a mixture of CoF2 and CoF3.
It is hazardous,so the first aid measures and others should be known. Such as: When on the skin: first,should flush skin with plenty of water immediately for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing. Secondly,Get medical aid. Or in the eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Then get medical aid soon.
