Sodium nitride (Na3N) is an extremely labile alkali metal nitride.Sodium nitride is a crystalline solid at room temperatures. It forms an amorphous solid below room temperature, and decomposes into its elements at the temperature of 87 degrees Celsius. It was synthesized by using a special technique involving atomic beams of sodium and nitrogen deposited onto a low-temperature sapphire substrate.
