Uses of N-Vinylcarbazole: It is used as a monomer in the production of poly(vinylcarbazole), a photoconductive polymer used in the photoreceptors of photocopiers. It also can react with 1H-benzotriazole to get 9-(1-benzotriazol-1-yl-ethyl)-9H-carbazole. This reaction needs reagent p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TsOH) and solvent CHCl3 by heating. The reaction time is 10 min. The yield is 76%.
