Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 2-acetylamino-5-chloro-4-nitro-benzoic acid by heating. This reaction will need reagent HOAc, aq. HCl with the reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 80%.

Uses of 2-Amino-5-chloro-4-nitrobenzoic acid: it can be used to produce N-tert-butyl-3-[(2-amino-5-chloro-4-nitrobenzenecarbonyl)oxy]crotonamide at the temperature of 20 °C. It will need reagent NEt3 and solvent dimethylformamide with the reaction time of 2 hours. The yield is about 85%.
