Preparation of Acetic acid,2-cyano-14C-, ethyl ester: it is prepared by reaction of chloroacetic acid ethyl ester with potassium ((14)C)cyanide. The reaction needs reagent 18-crown-6 and solvents H2O and acetonitrile at ambient temperature for 72 hours. The yield is about 79%.
Uses of Acetic acid,2-cyano-14C-, ethyl ester: it is used to produce 1-[14C]cyanocyclopropanecarboxylic acid by reaction with 1,2-Dibromo-ethane. The reaction occurs with reagents benzyltriethylammonium chloride, 50percent aq. NaOH and solvent CH2Cl2 at 0 ºC for 4.5 hours. The yield is about 57%.
