Preparation of 2-Amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole: It can be obtained by thiosemicarbazide and formic acid. This reaction needs reagent conc. H2SO4 by heating. The reaction time is 2 hours. The yield is 47%.
Uses of 2-Amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole: It is used as intermediate of pharmaceutical and dye. It also can react with acetoacetic acid ethyl ester to get 7-methyl-[1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidin-5-one. This reaction needs reagent PPA at temperature of 100 °C. The reaction time is 1 hours. The yield is 75%.
