Join anhydrous aluminum chloride into the melting Freon 112 quickly when stirring for 2-3h, then heated to 60-70 ℃, heat filter, filtrate fractionation, collecting 91-92 ℃ distillate,get 2,2 - difluoro-tetrachloroethane. Yield is 70%.

Reacts with acids. 1,1,1,2-Tetrachloro-2,2-difluoroethane (CAS NO.76-11-9) is used as intermediate for methoxyflurane of anesthetics.
