The Cesium chloride, with the CAS registry number 7647-17-8, is also known as alpha-Cellulose. It belongs to the product categories of Metal and Ceramic Science;Research Essentials;Cesium;Chemical Synthesis;Synthetic Reagents. This chemical's molecular formula is CsCl and molecular weight is 168.36.Its EINECS number is 231-600-2. What's more,Its systematic name is Cesium chloride. It is White/clear cryst powder.
Physical properties about Cesium chloride are:(1)ACD/LogP: 0; (2)# of Rule of 5 Violations: 0; (3)ACD/LogD (pH 5.5): 0.00; (4)ACD/LogD (pH 7.4): 0.00; (5)ACD/BCF (pH 5.5): 1.00; (6)ACD/BCF (pH 7.4): 1.00; (7)#H bond acceptors: 0; (8)#H bond donors: 0; (9)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 0.
Caesium chloride is widely used in the centrifugation in a technique known as isopycnic centrifugation. Centrifugal and diffusive forces establish a density gradient which allows separation of mixtures on the basis of their molecular density. This technique allows separation of DNA of different densities (e.g. DNA fragments with differing A-T or G-C content).
Radioisotopes of caesium chloride are used in nuclear medicine, including treatment of cancer. In the production of radioactive sources, it is normal to choose a chemical form of the radioisotope which would not be readily dispersed in the environment in the event of an accident. For instance, radiothermal generators (RTGs) often use strontium titanate, which is insoluble in water. For teletherapy sources, however, the radioactive density (Ci in a given volume) needs to be very high, which is not possible with known insoluble caesium compounds. A thimble-shaped container of radioactive caesium chloride provides the active source. In the Goiania accident, such a source was reptured, leading to several deaths.
The Cesium chloride is Possible risk of irreversible effects. It is irritating to eyes and skin .In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. When you use it ,wear suitable protective clothing and gloves.
