It is slightly water soluble and hydrolyzed by alkali . Organothiophosphates, such as Methyl demeton, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides. Flash point data for Methyl demeton are not available. Methyl demeton is probably combustible. So the storage environment should be ventilate, low-temperature and dry.
