The invention discloses a benzocyclobutene end-capped imide monomer as well as a preparation method and a curing method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: taking o-amino benzoate as a starting material, and performing isoamyl nitrite diazotization to obtain corresponding diazonium salt, heating the diazonium salt in a 1,4-dioxane to 50 DEG C to react with acrylonitrileto obtain 1-cryanobenzocyclobutene, and performing reduction through a sodium borohydride/raney nickel system to obtain 1-aminomethyl benzocyclobutene, and reacting with aromatic anhydride through imide reaction to obtain a target monomer. The monomer has excellent processing performance, can be dissolved into various organic solvents, is relatively low in melting point, can be rotatably coated with a film or injected into a mould to cure after being directly heated to be molten or dissolved into the solvent; and moreover, the curing process only needs heating, and no byproducts are discharged.
