Some new tetrazoles annelated with benzo- and dibenzo-C8 and -C9 rings were synthesized using a modification of a recently described reaction of ketones with in situ generated triazidochlorosilane. The new compounds were characterized by their IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR data. The reaction mechanism is discussed and proved by isolation of a stable diazidoderivative which was thermally converted to the corresponding tetrazole.
