Reaction of 3,5,6-trichloropyridine-2-one (I) and 2-isopropyl-6-methylpyrimidine-4-one (II) with methyl, ethyl and n-propyl halides yields the N-alkyl and O-alkyl isomers.Increase in alkyl halide chain results in higher yields of O-alkylated products.
