Zinc pyrocatecholate, also known as zinc 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate, is a coordination compound formed by the reaction of zinc ions with pyrocatechol, a dihydroxy derivative of benzene. zinc pyrocatecholate is characterized by its ability to form stable complexes with zinc ions, which can be beneficial in various applications such as catalysis, pharmaceuticals, and as a precursor in the synthesis of other organic compounds. The structure of zinc pyrocatecholate involves the coordination of pyrocatechol molecules to zinc ions, often resulting in a tetrahedral geometry around the metal center. zinc pyrocatecholate is of interest due to its potential use in environmental remediation, as it can help in the removal of heavy metals from contaminated soils and waters, and in the pharmaceutical industry for its potential therapeutic applications.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 10586-34-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,5,8 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10586-34:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*5)+(4*8)+(3*6)+(2*3)+(1*4)=92
92 % 10 = 2
So 10586-34-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of novel monomeric zinc-oxygen compounds containing diethylzinc and pyrocatechol or saligenin moieties

Kuran, Witold,Mazanek, Ewa

, p. 13 - 17 (1990)

Reactions of diethylzinc with dihydric phenols such as pyrocatechol and saligenin in a molar ratio of 1/1 yield zinc pyrocatecholate and ethylzinc 2-hydroxymethylphenoxide, whereas a molar ratio of 3/2 gives zinc bis(2-ethylzincoxyphenoxide) and zinc bis(2-ethylzincoxyphenylmethoxide). respectively. The latter ethylzincoxygen compounds, containing zinc diphenoxide - or zinc dimethoxide - units complexed internally by ethylzinc groups, form monomeric species in 1,4-dioxane.
