General Description
Alpha, alpha', 2,3,5,6-hexachloro-p-xylene is a synthetic, organic chemical compound that belongs to the group of chlorinated hydrocarbons. It is predominately used in industries as a precursor for manufacturing flame retardants, plasticizers, and pesticides. However, due to its highly toxic nature, it can lead to serious health and environmental hazards, if not handled properly. Breathing or consuming it may cause skin and eye irritation, and prolonged exposure can result in damage to the liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Therefore, its use and disposal are regulated under environmental laws.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1079-17-0 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,0,7 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1079-17:
(6*1)+(5*0)+(4*7)+(3*9)+(2*1)+(1*7)=70
70 % 10 = 0
So 1079-17-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Polyhalobenzylic disulfooxonium compounds
-
, (2008/06/13)
Polyhalobenzylic disulfooxonium compounds are produced by the reaction of aromatic methyl, halomethyl or hydroxymethyl substituents with sulfur trioxide. The disulfooxonium salts are readily converted to alcohols by hydrolysis to provide monomers for the production of fire resistant polymers and additives for polymers. Likewise, the disulfooxonium compounds of this invention present chemical intermediates for a wide range of useful products such as halogenated pesticides.
