Description

Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is a complex organic compound that serves as a specific inhibitor of calpain, a protein-degrading enzyme. It is primarily used in scientific research and is known for its ability to effectively bind and interrupt the operation of the calpain molecule. Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is often stored as a lyophilized powder to ensure its stability for long-term storage.

Uses

Used in Scientific Research:
Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is used as a research tool for studying the role of calpain in various biological and pathological processes. Its ability to inhibit calpain activity makes it a valuable asset in understanding the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer.
Used in Neurodegenerative Disease Research:
In the field of neurodegenerative disease research, Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is used as an inhibitor to investigate the involvement of calpain in the progression of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's. By inhibiting calpain, researchers can gain insights into the molecular pathways affected by this enzyme and potentially identify new therapeutic targets.
Used in Cardiovascular Disease Research:
Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is used as a research compound in cardiovascular disease studies to explore the role of calpain in heart conditions such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, and atherosclerosis. Its inhibitory effect on calpain helps researchers to understand the enzyme's contribution to the development and progression of these diseases.
Used in Cancer Research:
In cancer research, Z-PHE-TYR(TBU)-DIAZOMETHYLKETONE is used as a calpain inhibitor to study the enzyme's role in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. By targeting calpain, researchers can investigate its potential as a therapeutic target for cancer treatment and explore the underlying molecular mechanisms that drive cancer progression.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 114014-15-2 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,1,4,0,1 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 114014-15:
(8*1)+(7*1)+(6*4)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*4)+(2*1)+(1*5)=62
62 % 10 = 2
So 114014-15-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Development of peptidyl α-keto-β-aldehydes as new inhibitors of cathepsin L - Comparisons of potency and selectivity profiles with cathepsin B

Lynas, John F.,Hawthorne, Susan J.,Walker, Brian

, p. 1771 - 1773 (2007/10/03)

We have utilized previously known substrate and inhibitor specificity profiles for the lysosomal cysteine protease, cathepsin L, to design a new series of putative inhibitors of this enzyme, based on di- and tri-peptidyl α-keto-β-aldehydes. Kinetic evaluation of these compounds revealed Z-Phe-Tyr(OBut)-COCHO, with a K(i)=0.6 nM, to be the most potent, synthetic reversible inhibitor of cathepsin L reported to date.
