Chemical Properties

White solid

Uses

Tin(IV) isopropoxide is used as a precursor for the preparation of tin oxide nanoparticles, thin films, indium tin oxide (ITO) films , which shows desired electrochemical and conducting properties. Doped tin oxide nanoparticles and thin films find application as gas sensors.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1184-61-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,1,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1184-61:
(6*1)+(5*1)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*6)+(1*1)=68
68 % 10 = 8
So 1184-61-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and Thermolytic Behavior of Mixed-Valence Homo- and Heterometallic Group 14 Alkoxides

Teff,Minear,Baxter,Caulton

, p. 2547 - 2553 (2008/10/08)

The mixed-valence molecule SnIISnIv(OiPr)6 is conveniently synthesized and is shown to exchange bridging and terminal alkoxides in solution in its Sn(μ-OiPr)3Sn(OiPr)3 structure. Pb3SnO(OiPr)8, is synthesized and shown to undergo an intramolecular fluxionsl process in solution. Both molecules are sufficiently volatile for CVD study, and comparison of CVD behaviors of these and of M(OiPr)2 (M = Sn, Pb), Sn(OiPr)4, SnZr(OiPr)6, and Pb3-ZrO(OiPr)8 shows the reducing capacity of the isopropoxide moiety dominates the thermolytic behavior of all these species, giving metallic Sn or Pb in all cases. Only Zr, when it is present, forms ZrO2. The oxide in Pb3SnO(OiPr)8 yields PbO (and 2 Pb0 and 1 Sn0), in contrast to the relative electropositivity of Sn and Pb, a fact attributed to kinetic control of CVD behavior.
